René Magritte - La Trahison Des Images

I thought this was pretty cute. An adaptation of a famous Magritte painting applied to the iPad. As to what it means, to each his own. This illustration works both for the people who say the iPad is just a big iPhone/iPod touch or for those who say the iPad heralds the beginning of a whole new era in mobile computing.

aucune idée de ce que c'est ipad et compagnie, mais sure know ce que Magritte a voulu dire ici. Ceci n'est en effet pas une pipe, c'est la représentation d'une pipe sur un toile en deux dimmensions. La même chose compte pour ton I-pad, c'est juste une représentation de cet engin machinchose. Et nous les être humains on confond un objet ou un sujet avec la représentation qu'on en fait dans nos têtes et dans notre imagerie personnelle.

That is exactly the point and the reason the Magritte painting was used to illustrate the debate over the iPad. I sent an email to Rafi yesterday describing precisely what you just wrote here. I guess we must have had a similar education ;-)
